As the name suggests, we are a boutique production company based in Vancouver, BC.
Established in 2001 by Sheona McDonald & Jonathan Walker, our original focus was to produce high quality documentary films for television broadcast.
Our first film, Lifers: Stories From Prison, was an hour long documentary about men serving life sentences in Canadian penitentiaries. More recently we produced Capturing A Short Life a captivating, poignant and award-winning film about families dealing with infant loss. We’re currently in production on an hour-long film for Documentary, When Dreams Take Flight that explores why humans are compelled to fly like birds, due for completion October 2011.
Dimestore has also produced two short films of note, Documentary Bootcamp and Momentum.
It is an exciting time for our company as we are focusing on expanding & re-branding.
With a view ahead to making high quality documentary series and also starting our foray into dramatic series & feature production and are currently shopping The Beholder, a feature about Hans Van Meegeren, a Danish painter considered to be one of the finest forgers of the 20th century. We are also in development on a dramatic television series called Black Creek.
We are looking at the national and international marketplace with the goal of partnering up with like-minded producers. We’re also hoping to have a new office this year!
